Inventory Management

Lot & batch tracking.
Trace every unit, supplier to customer.

Track every unit from supplier to customer. Know exactly which batch went to which customer for recalls, compliance, and quality control.

Why lot tracking matters.

01

Product recalls

A supplier notifies you of contamination. Without lot tracking, you have no way to identify which customers received affected product.

02

FDA & compliance

Regulators require traceability. Food, supplements, and cosmetics must trace ingredients back to source.

03

Expiration management

Shipping expired product damages your brand. Without expiration tracking, oldest inventory sits while fresh stock ships.

Key capabilities.

Lot numbers attach to inventory at receiving and follow it through storage, production, and shipment.

01

Lot numbers at receiving

Scan or enter lot numbers when inventory arrives. Import lots via CSV for bulk setup.

02

Expiration date tracking

Store expiration dates with each lot. View expiring inventory reports to prevent waste.

03

FEFO automation

First-Expired, First-Out rules select the earliest expiring lot for each shipment.

04

Minimum shelf life rules

Set minimum remaining shelf life. The system skips lots that would arrive too close to expiration.

05

Recall traceability

Trace lot numbers to every customer shipment. Know exactly who received affected product.

Common use cases.

01

Food & beverage

Track production batches, expiration dates, and supplier lots for food safety compliance.

02

Supplements

FDA compliance with full ingredient traceability from supplier to customer.

03

Cosmetics

Track batch numbers for quality control and recall management.

04

Organic certified

CCOF and organic certification require traceability back to source farms.

FAQ

Common questions.

What's the difference between lot numbers and serial numbers?
Lot numbers group multiple units with shared characteristics (same production batch, expiration date). Serial numbers uniquely identify a single unit. Fulfil supports both. Use lot numbers for consumables and perishables. Use serial numbers for electronics, equipment, or warranty tracking.
Do I need barcode scanners for lot tracking?
Strongly recommended. Without barcodes, operators manually type lot numbers at receiving and packing. This slows operations and introduces errors. Work with suppliers to include lot number barcodes on incoming inventory.
How does FEFO automation work?
Create an automation rule that triggers on shipment creation. The rule automatically assigns the lot with the earliest expiration date. You can set a minimum remaining shelf life to ensure customers receive product with adequate time before expiration.
Can I import existing lot data?
Yes. Import lot numbers via CSV with columns for product SKU, lot number, and expiration date. Navigate to Inventory & Stock > Lot & Batch Numbers > Import.
